Yarn Thoughts...

I started playing around with different yarns to use last night. Tried a midnight colored lace merino first with US 3 needles--it didn't seem to work for me. Maybe it would have looked great in the end but didn't think I wanted to take the chance.

Now I am working with some tilli tomas yarn --voile de la mer (olive- colorway). This could be the yarn for my peacock---thinking of doing the "top" of the shawl with this yarn and then changing to some Habu silk for the "bottom feathers". (Maybe holding soft morhair with the habu)

Does anyone have any thoughts on using 2 yarns for the shawl? Would it work? Do you think it would be too weird?

You could transition, alternating colors; 1 row of the voile and one row of the Habu silk for a few rows, just to soften the change. I know you have to worry about twisting the yarns when you alternate rows though. Good luck! It sounds like it will be beautiful!

That's a great idea. I hadn't thought of doing it that way--sounds like it might be the way to go.

I love the idea - very creative!
Try using the gauge swatch to test it. Most of the shawl has that lace texture so it would give you a good comparison.

I hate to swatch -- but will be a good knitter and maybe swatch it....I was going to just put in a life line and go from there and see how it looked.

Do it do it do it! I'd LOVE to see something like this.

I'd also like to see a handpainted one, painted after knitting.

I am hoping that my other yarn comes in this week, cause I will be ready to change to my Habu any day now. Trying to get some holiday knitting done while working on my peacock, so that is slowing things down.
